BSC NURSING ( 4 Year Programme)

BSc Nursing is a four-year undergraduate course with a focus on skill development, training, values and knowledge as mentioned in National Health Policy 2002 about critical care. There are 1,00,930 BSc Nursing course seats in 1936 nursing colleges in India. Students with science in class 12 are eligible for BSc Nursing. There are 571 BSc Nursing seats in AIIMS. BSc Nursing Admission is based on the NEET UG exam for most of the central and state universities followed by a counseling round; however, some universities like AIIMS conduct their own entrance exams for admission to BSc nursing courses.

POST-BASIC BSC NURSING

BSc Nursing (Post Basic) is a 2 years course that is designed to enhance the nursing skills of professionals who already have a background in nursing or a similar field. The basic eligibility criteria are that students should have completed Class 12 with a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and should have a registration in Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RNRM).

MSC NURSING

Duration : 2 years

MSc Nursing is a 2 year postgraduate course in nursing, clinical speciality and clinical practise. MSc Nursing syllabus is designed to skill and educate students advanced knowledge in the field medical care and treatment. Students learn about nursing research & statistics, nursing management, pediatric nursing, cardiological nursing, medical-surgical nursing etc. The basic eligibility criteria are that students should have completed Class 12 with a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and should have a registration in Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RNRM).

ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery)

ANM full form is Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery. ANM Nursing is a 2 year diploma course. It primarily deals with the health care sector. The course provides knowledge about setting up operation theatre, taking care of various equipment, maintaining records, and also administering timely medication to patients. There are a total of 1936 colleges for these courses, out of which 1615 are private, and 275 are governmental institutions. The total number of seats for this course in India is 1,00,930.

GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery)

Duration : 2 years

GNM or General Nursing and Midwifery is 3 year course followed by 6 months of mandatory internship dealing with the nursing practice of a niche segment like maternity care, post-trauma, rehabilitation, mental care, data collection etc. There are 1,00,930 Nursing seats in 1936 Nursing Colleges in India. GNM Admission takes place through Entrance Exams conducted by State Governments. There is no central exam for GNM Admission. Students need to study Science in class 12 in order to be eligible for GNM Admission. The basic eligibility criteria are that students should have completed Class 12 with a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and should have a registration in Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RNRM).
